Born on this day in 1897, Aneurin Bevan was a Trade unionist, Labour MP and Health Minister in the Attlee government and, without doubt, one of the greats of 20th century socialism.
Firebrand socialist and orator, Bevan is regarded as the father of the ...National Health Service. A Labour Government created the NHS and a Labour Government will ALWAYS protect the NHS.
In one of his most (in)famous speeches, he described his deep and burning hatred for the Tory party: 'So far as I am concerned,' he said, 'they are lower than vermin.'

Our Policy Officer has written a motion calling for the creation of manufacturing hubs in deprived areas to make modular eco homes. Building energy efficient, ...affordable, social housing at pace and scale. Levelling up with future proofed jobs in the modern building sector. Skilling local people to solve a local need. Creating sustainable economic growth within the green economy.
This motion has already been presented to the Labour Party and will be presented to the Cooperative Party conference next week.
